VORTEX events are a hybrid of short course off-road racing and sports car sprint races. Four classes—Pro 4 and Pro 2 trucks, the Subaru WRX STI, and Volkswagen Beetle Lite—share the track, competing in a 100-minute race that features live pit stops and mandatory driver changes. The Group Therapy 100 regularly draws dozens of entries each year, with up to 100 drivers across more than 40 virtual race teams taking part.

Cameron Pedersen and Josh Edmundson lead the overall VORTEX points with 2600 with class victories in both May’s Great Lakes 100 at Bark River and September’s Sierra Nevada 100 at Wild West. Following them with 2200 points are Sean Winkler and Cody Vanderveer, who were second and first in their classes in the two races. Pedersen and Edmundson have competed in both car classes so far this season, while Winkler and Vanderveer have run in both truck classes.

The top point scorers to compete in the same vehicle in both events are Bryan Sawyer, Eric Caplinger, and Marcos Palacio, who have scored 2200 points with finishes of third and first in the Beetle Lite. Zak Blanch and Naton Ramsay lead the Pro 4 points with 2100, Trever Teal and Chris Leone top the Subaru class with 1900, and Anthony Jaynes and Franklin Monack lead the Pro 2 class with 1500.

Edmundson has won the past two Group Therapy 100s overall, teaming up with Blake Reynolds in a Pro 4 truck in 2022 and Pedersen in a Subaru last year. The inaugural event in 2021 was won overall by Factory Simsport drivers Keaton Swane and Crystal King, also in a Pro 4.
