Race Preview: General Tire 200 at Talladega

The ARCA Menards Series heads back to Talladega Superspeedway on Saturday for the General Tire 200, the 61th race at the 2.66-mile superspeedway in series history. One of the largest entry lists expected for the entire season is expected to do battle, with Daytona winner and incoming points leader Greg Van Alst set to be challenged by former Talladega winner Gus Dean, 2020 series champion Bret Holmes, and many of the other top names in the series, some of whom are making their Talladega debuts.

Dean is the only previous winner (2016) expected to compete, meaning that there’s a good chance that Talladega’s streak of 16 different winners in its past 16 ARCA races is likely to continue. In fact, aside from Frank Kimmel’s wins in 2006 and 2013, the only other driver to win more than once in the past 30 years is Tim Steele, who won in 1993 and then took three in a row from 1996-98. The race will air live on FS1 on Saturday at 12:30PM ET/9:30AM PT.

Race Preview: West Series at Kern County

If a visit to Talladega wasn’t enough ARCA action for you, the West division heads to Kern County Raceway Park for its own race on Saturday night, the NAPA Auto Parts BlueDEF 150. That race will stream live on Saturday night on FloRacing before airing on CNBC on Sunday, April 30 at 11AM ET/8AM PT.

Landen Lewis is the defending race winner at Kern County, but Sean Hingorani enters the event as the series’ most recent winner thanks to a checkered flag at Irwindale Speedway three weeks ago. Phoenix winner Tyler Reif remains the points leader over Lewis, with Trevor Huddleston, Bradley Erickson, and Kyle Keller completing the top five.
