Sanchez Takes ARCA Menards Series Points Lead With Michigan Win

Rev Racing drivers Rajah Caruth and Nick Sanchez have been the class of the ARCA Menards Series field for most of the 2022 season, with Caruth’s consistency and Sanchez’s race wins putting them up front in different ways. After Saturday’s Henry Ford Health 200 at Michigan International Speedway, it’s Sanchez who leads the field thanks to his third win of the season. Thanks to a combination of strong restarts and defensive driving, he kept polesitter Corey Heim and fellow title challenger Daniel Dye at bay to earn the victory.

With Caruth coming home sixth, the points lead flipped into Sanchez’s favor by seven points with eight races remaining. Dye is just two further points back of Caruth in third, with that trio expected to settle the championship among themselves. The season resumes on August 19 with two races in three days, with the General Tire Delivers 100 at Watkins Glen International that Friday and the Atlas 100 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds on Sunday.

Sorah Becomes Fourth Stock Car Summer Showdown Winner in Four Races

Despite needing to start from the pit lane and falling off the lead lap in the early stages of the race, Maconi Setup Shop driver Presley Sorah came out on top of Tuesday night’s Stock Car Summer Showdown Next Level Racing 150 at Talladega Superspeedway. The fourth different round of the five-race iRacing series, which sees the General Tire-shod ARCA Menards Series car take on five different track, produced the series’ fourth different winner after going to overtime and seeing just a handful of drivers keep it clean to the finish.

NLR driver, real-world ARCA Menards Series West veteran, and Phoenix winner James Bickford came just short of the win in second, while Jim Beaver eSports eNASCAR driver Blake Reynolds completed the top three. 13 of the 24 starters led at least one lap, with David Schildhouse topping the field by leading 13 and polesitter Justin Melillo leading the second-most with seven laps out front. Reynolds enters August 23’s season-ending Maconi Setup Shop 100 at Stafford Motor Speedway with a six-point lead over Bickford, while Seth Reiter and Garrett Manes are third at 12 points back.
