Taylor Gray Survives Wet Weather in Mid-Ohio, Wins Dawn 150

David Gilliland Racing driver Taylor Gray scored his second career ARCA Menards Series win on Friday in the Dawn 150 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Gray found himself in winning contention in the closing laps, in part after the Rev Racing duo of Nick Sanchez and Rajah Caruth took two-lap penalties for changing from one set of dry General Tires to another under caution, and muscled his way past Kris Wright for the checkered flag. Caruth still remains the points leader over Sanchez by six and GMS Racing’s Daniel Dye by eight after all three drivers failed to finish on the lead lap in the race.

Behind Gray, Venturini Motorsports driver Parker Chase would eventually settle into second despite drawing the frustration of teammate John Hunter Nemechek and Kyle Busch Motorsports’ Sammy Smith for his driving late in the race. “He’s Parker Chase, and that’s all there is to it,” said Smith, who finished third; Nemechek, who led most of the race and finished fourth, got the worst of it after Chase tried to move him late in the race and expressed his own frustrations after the race as well.

ARCA Season Continues Next Weekend with General Tire Delivers 200 at Pocono

One of ARCA’s most prominent host venues returns to the schedule on Friday, July 22 with the General Tire Delivers 200 at Pocono Raceway. If you’re heading to Pocono, General Tire Jim Beaver Show hosts Jim Beaver and Brittney Cardone will be on site—so be sure to buy tickets now! General admission tickets for the day are just $10, with kids 12 and under free, gates opening at 2PM, and on-track action beginning at 2:45 before the race goes green at 6:30.

A continuous host of at least one ARCA Menards Series event every year since 1987, Pocono has the impressive distinction of posting 30 different winners over its previous 30 events, dating back to Chase Miller’s charge from 34th to first in June 2006. Miller’s win was bookended by a pair of victories from ARCA legend Frank Kimmel in the July 2005 and 2006 events. Pocono ARCA winners since then include active NASCAR Cup Series champions Joey Logano, Chase Elliott, and Kyle Larson, as well as fellow active Cup drivers Michael McDowell, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Ty Dillon, Corey LaJoie, Cole Custer, Chase Briscoe, Justin Haley, and Harrison Burton.
