Mega ARCA Weekend as Jones Wins in Iowa, Drew Doubles Up at Sonoma

Brandon Jones is two-for-two in ARCA Menards Series events in 2022 after taking the checkered flag in the rain-delayed Calypso Lemonade 150 at Iowa Speedway on Saturday night. Jones passed Sammy Smith during a long run in the closing laps of the race in the combination national and East series event, while Connor Mosack scored an ARCA-best third behind Smith. General Tire Pole Award winner Jesse Love fell to 13th after a late pit stop.

In the West division, which also raced on Saturday, the floodgates are officially open for points leader Jake Drew. Drew extended his championship lead to a healthy 35 points over Todd Souza with a win in the General Tire 200 at Sonoma Raceway, his second road course victory in as many weeks after finally scoring his first career ARCA win at a rain-soaked Portland International Raceway last time out.

Virtual Stock Car Summer Showdown Kicks Off on General Tires in Charlotte

Elliott Sadler eSports’ Seth Reiter beat Jonathan Oates by just .049 seconds in a photo finish in the opening round of the Stock Car Summer Showdown, a collaboration between Jim Beaver eSports, Maconi Setup Shop, and Next Level Racing using the Genera Tire-shod ARCA Menards Series cars on iRacing. Reiter led six of the race’s 66 laps and held off a hard-charging Oates at the finish in a race that stayed green over its final 50 laps.

Blake Reynolds, General Tire’s eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series driver, qualified on pole and led five laps before brushing the wall with under 25 laps to go and losing a lap in the pits. He’d get that lap back, but without another caution, couldn’t return to the battle up front. Much of the race was dominated by Maconi Setup Shop’s William Hale, who led 42 laps and finished third, and fellow ESE driver Garrett Manes, who led 10. Manes and Charlotte Phoenix driver David Schildhouse had a photo finish of their own for fourth, with Schildhouse earning the spot by literal millimeters. The series continues on June 28 at Sonoma Raceway on Racecraft TV.
