Keegan Kincaid Returns to Championship Off-Road Podium at Bark River

Professional off-road racer and 2021 Championship Off-Road Pro 2 champion Keegan Kincaid continued his recent run of good luck at Bark River International Raceway over the weekend, returning to the podium for the first time in the 2022 season. The #4 Lucas Oil/Cooper Tire/Vision Wheel truck posted two top five finishes on the weekend, with a runner-up result on Saturday serving as his best finish of the year so far.

“It feels great to finally have a podium to show for all of our hard work this year!” said Kincaid. “Some weekends, it felt like if we didn’t have bad luck we wouldn’t have any at all, but this team never gave up and we never stopped pushing to get back to where we belong. Without the 10 draw for Saturday we might’ve been one step higher on the box, but this is still terrific momentum to be able to bring into the season finale at Crandon—and we’re fired up to defend last year’s victories!”

As the winner of three of the past four Bark River Pro 2 races, Kincaid entered the weekend as one of the favorites to watch. He kicked off the weekend by posting the top qualifying time on Friday, posting a 1:23.925 to come out on top of a closely matched pole battle. With the three top qualifiers separated by just five hundredths of a second, the pressure would be on to maintain the pace and get back onto the box.

But when he drew a 10 for the pre-race invert on Saturday, Kincaid would have to do it the hard way from the fifth row on the grid. He’d put himself in position to strike with some early passes and as other drivers who benefitted from the invert would tangle or make mistakes, Kincaid would force his way past. When all was said and done, he’d settle for second place and a mid-pack starting spot on Sunday; once again, Kincaid would show his ability to get past others in the Bark River mud to claim fifth in the final race of the weekend.

With Bark River in the books, Kincaid will return home for the final event of the season, the World Championship Off-Road Races at Crandon International Raceway on Labor Day weekend. While Kincaid’s mathematical hopes of defending the Pro 2 title were put to rest at Bark River, he still enters the event as the defending winner of both the COR finale and Crandon World Cup that pits Pro 2s and Pro 4s against one another. Kincaid also added a third place finish in the Pro 2 World Championship race for a three-podium weekend last year.
