Last Race: A muddy race can change everything for a Monster Energy Supercross field, and such was the case in Saturday’s visit to MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. After severe weather delayed both finals, Max Anstie scored his long-awaited first career Supercross victory in the 250SX East/West Showdown, while Justin Barcia made his return to the top step of the podium in the 450SX feature after chasing down both Chase Sexton and Ken Roczen. Eli Tomac and Roczen completed the 450 podium, while brothers Jett and Hunter Lawrence made it a Honda sweep in the 250 class.

Race Preview: Thanks to his runner-up finish in the mud, Tomac’s 450SX points lead over Cooper Webb is up to a healthy 11 points with just three races remaining. Now, the series returns to Nashville for the first time in nearly half a decade (2019), when Tomac was the rider to beat in Pro Motocross for Monster Energy Kawasaki but still in search of his elusive first Supercross title. If you want to consider the gap, he’s the defending Nashville winner, having beaten Blake Baggett and Webb here in that event.

That gap means that most of the top names in 250 East haven’t raced in Nissan Stadium before. The 2019 podium featured the since-retired Martin Davalos, who has moved into team management, and current 450 riders Sexton and Justin Cooper. Hunter Lawrence remains well clear of his closest competition, Haiden Deegan, with a 45-point lead, while Anstie leads a gaggle of closely matched riders for third.
