Jones Returns to ARCA, Winner’s Circle in General Tire 150 at Charlotte

After a chaotic start to the night for many of the top cars, Brandon Jones scored his sixth career ARCA Menards Series victory in last week’s General Tire 150 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. In both his and Joe Gibbs Racing’s return to the division, Jones earned the General Tire Pole Award and remained consistent throughout the night to pull out an 8.683-second advantage over Corey Heim at race’s end.

Rajah Caruth, who had the fastest car early in the race, finished third despite contact with Rev Racing teammate Nick Sanchez before the halfway point that affected his performance. Connor Mosack and Greg Van Alst completed the top five and lead lap finishers. Among those who suffered incidents in the race, Daniel Dye overcame multiple incidents to finish sixth, while Sanchez finished two laps down in eighth and Parker Chase overcame an early electrical fire in his dashboard to give up just eight laps and come home 15th.

ARCA West Returns to Action in Portland

It’s been a little over a month since the ARCA Menards Series West has hit the track, with April 23’s 150-lapper at Kern County Raceway Park the most recent round. This Saturday, the season resumes with the fourth round of the season, and the first of three road course events, with the Portland 112 at Portland International Raceway. Portland’s first of two ARCA West events this year also marks the first of back-to-back road courses in back-to-back weeks, preceding the General Tire 200 at Sonoma Raceway on June 11.

The West series has seen three different winners in its first three races, with Taylor Gray taking the General Tire 150 at Phoenix, Tanner Reif in Irwindale, and Landen Lewis at Kern County. Points leader Jake Drew and third place Cole Moore will each aim to score their first career series victories and become the fourth winner to start the year, with Drew having led 29 laps and Moore 10 in last September’s Portland visit. Defending race winner Gray isn’t scheduled to compete, but national series frontrunner Dye will make his first standalone West start to add depth to the field.
